To Sleep, Perchance to Dream

Flannery has her alarm clock set to some local country station, because on most mornings, it is just too annoying to try to sleep through. But this morning she tried anyway. It woke me up. I realized that it was 6:30 am. I grumbled and rolled over and tried to return to the land of slumber, but all I seemed to find was that half awake/half twilight of sleep. I dreamed of being on a busy street corner in some large city. I didn't know where I was and none of the passers-by had any interest in speaking to me. On the corner where I was standing was a telephone booth. I thought that I could call Flannery and she could come pick me up. So I step into the phone booth and pick up the reciever and am about to dial when I nudge something with my foot. On the floor is a man's brown leather wallet. I open it and there is a crisp, new $50 bill. I am alone in a strange city and I don't even have any change in my pocket for the phone and I am tempted to take the money, until I look at the driver's licience. It says "Clark Kent".

Then the kids woke me up.
