What Did Pope Benedict XVI Get For His Birthday?

It turns out that Pope Benedict XVI prefers beer to wine, so when Dr. John Sentamu, the Archbishop of York, visited him he brought along some unique English ale.
He brought "Holy Grail" ale made in Masham England by the Black Sheep Brewery.
The brew was started in 1999 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Monty Python show. I'm guessing the Pope enjoys the naughty vicar skit, as well as a cold beer after a long day of leading all of Christendom to glory.

  2. I know how to pray the Rosary in Latin. I fully expect to see some of this stuff at Tiki Nite-- I'm also a minister for the ULC, so I can bless this beer...

  5. Err- You're right. That was unexpected!

Cap'n Ergo- But can you pick up girls with your latin? I sure hope you don't have your heart set on some "Holy Grail" ale when you come. I only have enough money for cheap domestic.

Gifted Typist- "God's Rottweiler"! That is the funniest damn thing I've read in quite some time. I am so very glad you stop by, as you always crack me up.

  6. Elizabeth- Oh really? I'm not sure I'm ready for the same surprise that you might have in store for the good Cap'n, unless it is beer, simply because he and I have very different ideas about what makes a good surprise.

For him it is a lemon, a sheep, and three women, preferably fan dancers.

For me it is a sixer and a pack of smokes, or perhaps a new hat.

But I'm sure that whatever you are cooking up will be sincere, thoughtful, and above all, tasteful.

P.S.- I'm really hoping for the fan dancers.
