The Canoe Trip, part one

"Sometimes you just have to go home to taste the muddy water." - Doc

I have had an adventure and as much as I would like to share it with you in it's entirety to do it in one long go would be tiresome for the reader and the author as well. With that in mind, I will tell of it in small pieces much like the rain that fell on us every day and soaked us to the bone, as it also paved our way through the shallow spots at times.

The trip started on Sunday 8/16 and ended on Saturday 8/22, with five of those days in the canoe. Without exception, this was the greatist adventure I have ever had since I have undertaken fatherhood. This was a brutal test of skill, endurance, willpower, & fortitude. All in all, I feel I faired well. Almost forty miles in a canoe dosen't sound like much, but the going was tough by even the most hardy of traveler's standards.

The trip was much like a comedy of errors with several points of slapstick, and some farce thrown in. Imagine a bumbling Lewis and Clark expedition without the Indians, Thomas Jefferson, Sacagawea, and a lot more rednecks. It could almost make a mid-season TV show for the networks. "Two Boobs in a Canoe" has a nice ring to it.
