Status Update

Sorry I haven't been around. We've moved and that has occupied all my time as of late. Our new house is only about two blocks away from the old one so we didn't have far to go but picking up and moving every blessed thing you own is never easy, even if it is only two minutes away.

My broken leg is mending but the doctor says that it will be at least another year before it's whole again, maybe two. My birthday is coming up and I've asked for a new cane as I'm going to be hobbling around on one for some time to come. I know it has certainly hampered me in the move. With every armful of our collective crap I have to move, my leg reminds me that we still have very far to go. Frankly, it hurts like a bitch but at least I'm off the crutches and have a free hand now.

I haven't been writing at all and I'm regreting that. With the close of Flash Fiction Friday, I can't seem to muster anything in the way of a story anymore. Sure, there are a couple of incarnations that have risen in it's place but they are a once a month or every other week sort of thing and the looming deadline of Tuesday morning no longer presses me into action. I miss it like having two good legs. Cormac old friend, I hope you are happy because you sure deserve to be, especially for what you did for me. Your little weekly writing exercise is what kept me sane for some time. It strengthened my marriage and perhaps saved my life, and I would be lying like a rug if I said otherwise.

I'm still struggling with my Bipolar Disorder and everyday is a challenge. It is more than a little disconcerting when one's own head turns against you, but I take my meds and meet each day as it comes. Flannery and the girls are in love with the new house and their joy is somewhat infectious. I smoke less now and my beers are seldom. My diet has improved and I sleep well now, so I'm not really in a bad way. I just wanted to drop you a line and say that I'm getting by and that I miss you all badly, but I'll rejoin you once I put my house in some kind of order.

May Provedence keep you safe and warm,

Doc

  1. Hey, Doc! I was just thinking about your this morning! Glad to hear all is well!

I, too, miss the weekly FFF - since my trip to the US I haven't been able to settle back into writing...... :-(

(And while you're ordering a new cane can you get one for me, too? Did some damage to my knee a few weeks ago and our usually wonderful NHS can't give me even an assessment physio appointment until 29th November! :-o So I'm digging in my pocket to see a Bowen Therapy specialist this Friday.....assuming I can hobble into her surgery!

Glad the new dwelling is pleasing all concerned -
maybe now is the right tme to kickstart your writing, huh? ;-)

  4. Our new house is only about two blocks away from the old one...

Moving sucks in the best of times, moving everything that short a distance is massive suckage.

  6. I really appreciate the update, as I have been thinking a lot about you and your family, wishing for the best, hoping that things are turning for the better.

Mostly I wish I lived closer, so I could help you move. I'd even bring a truck.

    Be well, Doc.
